Founding of the IKKA
Kenpo associations provided rank authority, identity and a way to connect schools that were no longer under one roof.
From school to association
As Parker’s students opened schools of their own, a broader organization became increasingly important. The International Kenpo Karate Association is closely identified with Parker’s later career and with the spread of his evolving American Kenpo system.
Names and dates matter
Early documents use several organization names and abbreviations, and later recollections do not always agree on founding dates or administrative control. The safest historical method is to compare dated certificates, patches, letterhead and incorporation records rather than relying on a single retrospective narrative.
Tracy relationship
The Tracy brothers’ early rank certificates and association connections are part of this transition period. Their own organization soon developed independently, preserving material they regarded as Original and Traditional Kenpo.
